Teaching & Learning Committee
About the AFOEM T&L CommitteeThe Teaching & Learning Committee (formally known as the Board of Censors) has a representative from each region throughout Australia and New Zealand as an active member. There is also a Director of Training (DoT) representing trainees in remote areas. Each of these Committee members has a responsibility to both Trainees and Supervisors within their regions. The responsibilites of each of these groups are listed below.
For Trainees
- Manage the operation of the Training Program within their region
- Provide information and advice to prospective trainees regarding prerequisites for entry to the Training Program
- Approve the trainee's personal training plan at commencement of program
- Appoint a Mentor for each Trainee
- Review and endorse all trainee's Six-Monthly Training Status Reports
- Provide post-examination counselling if necessary
- Liaise with the Faculty regarding inactive Trainees or to discuss any problems with a Trainee
- Ensure awareness of changes to the Training Program
For Supervisors
- Hold regular meetings with Mentors to review the Trainee's progress
- Ensure that Mentors are aware of and fulfil their roles
- Ensure Mentors attend the Faculty's Mentor Training Program
